Entered this Game at Six
When I was six years old, I lived in Boogie Down Bronx with my Dad and my older sister. My mother was an addict and HIV positive, living on the streets of Brooklyn and hadn't been in my life since I was three. My pops had to give up his career as a rapper to raise me and my sister- and it wasn't easy. Ups and downs. Broke. I remember the first time I saw the movie Salena, I was living in a shelter, and was inspired by her story and most of all of Jennifer Lopez, a strong Latina who played her. It was then that I discovered that I wanted to inspire others by entertaining them.
From that day on, I knew what to do to get myself prepared to become a rapper. I wanted to be positive, rap about my inner thoughts, but still have an aggressive style. Practice was the key. I practiced my performance, my writing, and my skills. Just enough to prove to my dad that this is something I wanted to take seriously. When my dad finally realized that his daughter had some serious skills, he took things to a new level. I started rapping on the streets of Harlem and at open mic's in nightclubs. I even battled a white boy on MTV Made to get a rep.
I was 9 years old and people knew me as "P-Star."
My dad taught his little girl about his Hip Hop. The beginning. In the 1970's Hip Hop was born with yours truly, Kool Herc! This cultural movement incorporated four elements: DJing, MCing, Breaking, and Graffitti. Groups like: Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and The Sugar Hill Gang. Pioneers like, Afrika Bambaata, Grand Wizard Theodore, and my personal favorite, The Funky Four plus One More! Most importantly, the mother of rap and the first lady to MC, Miss Sha-Roc!
Six years later, I am still rapping. I've been signed, traveled, recorded, lost a record deal, got a TV show, learned who to trust and who not to trust, and learned a lot about family. To me, it is more than a game. Hip Hop is all about expressing yourself through music, dance, your heart and soul... and fun- you can't forget to have fun!

rocking EUROPE!
Priscilla in SWITZERLAND! Wow, I can't believe it. (But I did because that's exactly where I was :) It was so crazy out there. Having the opportunity to have my movie "P-Star Rising" Premiere is an honor, and I couldn't asked for more...and from what I saw and heard, the people out here enjoyed every minute of my movie. I had a great time networking with the Swiss people. I also had a blast site seeing and taking a great look of what Europe looks like (my first time!) After the premiere screening, I had the opportunity to perform at a night club- Club Mascotte. I didn't know what to expect, and who even spoke English in the crowd, but they went wild for me. Like 400 of them. I think they enjoyed me as much as i enjoyed them. It's the first time people were dancing in the crowd, and I even pulled up a boy to dance on stage with me! They sure knew how to make me feel special. Switzerland, you rock! I am jumping on a plane tonight to perform at the Pop Montreal Film Festival, and then to Indianapolis and the Dominican Republic and then...who knows....

The Movie is done! OMG!
Hi, everyone!
I just want to thank my Dad and Gabe and Marjan for being here for me since day one. I honestly have to say, I wouldn't want to work on a project like this with anyone else. Starting this music business at such a young age made me stronger. I didn't know what in the world was going on, so all I could do was just flow with it. I didn't take anything too seriously. In the beginning, I was trying to make a buzz on the streets. Then, it hit me! I figured out that this is what I'm going to do for the rest of my life- that it was not just a game- when I woke up one evening, and there was a freaking CAMERA in front of my face, recording EVERYTHING! In the beginning of recording this film, I thought it would just be a film to show the world the kind of skills I have on the mic. Then, things started to get more intense, more personal. The camera director dude (Gabe) decided to follow me everywhere. It got to a point where I would joke with him, "Would you like to record me using the bathroom!?" Well, throughout all of the years I had a camera follow me, I honestly never got used it. While watching the finished film, it was kind of funny to see myself at 8 years old. I was like "Oh My Gosh!! WHY IN THE WORLD DOES MY HAIR LOOK LIKE THAT!" But, the more I watched I realized that we all looked natural. I wanted it to be natural so that the people could relate to me, and keep things real. All the things I went through, I've learned a lot, and I hope people can understand my family and I, where things were and where they are now. I hope people understand that this was never easy for me or my Dad, but at the end of the day I never gave up. So I hope people love it!!!! Thank you!
Love,
